The maitake (Grifola frondosa) is a mushroom that grows at the base of trees, especially oaks, and has a white to brownish-grey colour. The mushroom is native to China, Europe and North America. The name maitake comes from the Japanese words mai (dance) and take (mushroom), which therefore means the dancing mushroom. This is because the hats overlap like a mountain of leaves and this gives an effect of dancing butterflies.
The maitake mushroom powder has a pleasant fresh and mild smell and taste. In addition, it is packed with minerals and healthy fibers. The maitake mushroom is mainly used in Asian cuisine, where it is one of the most important culinary mushrooms.
Suggested serving: 1-5g to be taken daily. Best mixed into a drink such as a smoothie but can also be added to food. The taste is mild and pleasant. Contains 50g powdered fruiting body.
